Job Description

Charity for Change is seeking an experienced and motivated Grant Writer to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of grant funders from local to national levels, be highly deadline-oriented, and have a proven track record in writing successful grant proposals and reports. The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in managing the entire grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities to tracking and reporting outcomes.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The organizations’ proprietary curriculum is provided in elementary afterschool and summer settings. The curriculum activities teach character, generosity and gratitude blended with an online, academic platform. The curriculum includes activities developing the overall mental well-being of students, setting them on a trajectory for success in school, relationships, future careers and life. The vision is to end hate, violence, bullying and division by teaching pro-social behaviors.

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Grant Proposal Development: Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies to secure funding for Charity for Change's programs and initiatives.
  • Proposals to Individuals: Develop personalized proposals and case statements tailored to the interests and giving priorities of individual donors and family foundations. Craft compelling narratives that align the needs and impact of Charity for Change's programs with the philanthropic goals of these potential funders.
  • Grant Reporting: Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Grant Tracking and Management: Maintain a detailed calendar of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements. Track the status of grant applications and maintain records of all grant-related activities. This includes entry of related Call Reports into DonorPerfect.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the program and finance teams to gather content, data, and financial information necessary for grant applications and reports. Foster strong working relationships to understand program needs and goals, and provide significant notice for required items.
  • Research: Identify and research potential funding sources, keeping abreast of trends and opportunities in the funding landscape, particularly within Southwest Florida.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between Charity for Change and funding organizations, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Support for Development Team: Assist the Resource Development Team with various fundraising tasks, initiatives and events as needed, ensuring cohesive and coordinated efforts across all fundraising activities.
  • Furthering the Mission: Uphold and promote the mission of Charity for Change by ensuring that all grant writing and fundraising communications effectively convey the organization's goals, values, and impact to potential donors and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising.
  • Proven success in securing grants from diverse funding sources. History with government grants a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, particularly in education and social services.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with grant management software and CRM systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the local community and funding landscape in Southwest Florida is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or certifications applicable to this position -- a plus, but not required.

COMPENSATION
