Job Description
Your Job We are seeking a Junior Industrial Designer in Atlanta, GA, with 1-2 years of experience, to join our Industrial Design Team and support GP PRO's new product development initiatives in Atlanta, GA. You will collaborate with our category teams and the Technical Center engineering team in Neenah, Wisconsin, to create innovative product solutions for towel, tissue, and skincare categories.
This role involves two main responsibilities and offers an opportunity for learning and growth. Your first responsibility will be in the early stages of innovation, encompassing in-field immersion and observation, brainstorming, concept generation, and illustration. You will help develop a variety of alternative concepts addressing unmet needs identified through insights. The second responsibility includes creating our instruction guides and labels, as well as producing high-quality renderings of our products for use in presentations and marketing materials.
In addition, you will work with design peers and leadership to learn and experience the process of transforming initial concepts into final design solutions that align with visual brand language guidelines, manufacturing constraints, and ensure that insight-led features are preserved in the final product. The ability to communicate ideas effectively through freehand sketching is essential. We value enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, creativity, proactive problem-solving skills, and an interest in UI/UX design and principles.
What You Will Do - Participate in early-stage innovation, including in-field immersion, observation, brainstorming, concept generation, and illustration
- Collaborate closely with marketing, insights, category, and R&D teams
- Apply user insights and voice of the customer (VOC) to create innovative design solutions
- Develop features and product concepts, focusing on creating valuable intellectual property
- Execute designs in alignment with brand strategies and guidelines
- Share and present work regularly to category and R&D teams
- Work closely with engineering to ensure design intent, develop specifications, and validate prototypes
- Create support materials for intellectual property (IP) activities, instruction manuals, and informative labels
- Actively seek opportunities for mentorship and continued skill building
Who You Are (Basic Requirements) - Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design
- One (1) or more years of industrial design experience
- Experience using Adobe Suite, Sketchbook Pro, SolidWorks, and Keyshot
- Experience with UX design principles
What Will Put You Ahead - Participation in internships or experience in project design
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Experience with Blender 3D
- Experience with Figma
