The Maine CDC Health Inspection Program (HIP) is looking for a Public Health Inspector to conduct inspections for restaurants, mobile food vendors, school kitchens, correctional facility kitchens, hospital cafeteria kitchens, lodging places, campgrounds, youth camps, public pools/spas, mass gatherings and body artists for potential impact on public health and safety. The Health Inspection Program has a current vacancy out of the Farmington DHHS office, which includes Franklin County and adjacent portions of Oxford, Somerset and Kennebec Counties, and includes the towns of Carrabassett Valley, Rumford, Farmington, Solon, Vassalboro, Mount Vernon, Coburn Gore and other adjacent towns.

As a key member of the HIP team, your core responsibilities will include:
Minimum Qualifications:
(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).
A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in public health, environmental or biological science, health education or a related field which includes two (2) years of public health, biological or environmental science, or related experience.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Obtain FDA standardization for food inspections, Certified Food Manager Certification and Certified Pool Operation Certification after hire.
