Job Description

The Stony Brook School, a distinguished independent, faith-based school, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Life Science teacher to join the Global Extension of our school.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a Life Science field or Science Education.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience, including online instruction
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet grading and project deadlines
  • High energy, strong work ethic, and the ability to effectively engage with teenagers in an online environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to responding promptly to all communications.
  • Eagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation
  • Proficiency with technology, including the ability to navigate a learning management system (e.g., Canvas LMS), online educational tools, and create screencasts/videos.
  • Reliable, high speed internet access.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a team of teachers, with a focus on providing and receiving feedback in a transparent, growth-oriented culture.
  • Ability to interact professionally with parents, students, and other community members.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as our students come from diverse global backgrounds,
  • A demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning
  • Maturity and stability to thrive in a demanding role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction and support.
  • Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Gravitas curriculum.

Salary Range: $6,000 per section
